Color Capture: Denmark

Visiting at Copenhagen at Christmas time, colors were a wonderful combination of the organic, the illuminated and the bold. Even without holiday decorations, Denmark has extraordinary light- I don't know if it's the angle of the sun or the proximity to water, but there's a subtle glow that's magical. I was struck by the the depth of more neutral tones, as well as the changing colors of the sea and sky, so this study includes a look at these two areas as well.

Experiment:

Capture 100 colors from a trip to Copenhagen

By Time/As a Palette

By Hue

By Value

Greys/Neutrals

in order, sorted, and by value

Sea & Sky

by time, sorted, and by value

Textures

by time, sorted, and by hue

Notes:

I added neutrals and the colors of the sea & sky. I also didn't blur the individual color chips, so they have a bit of texture.

Plus:

A great way to "look" at a new place

Minus:

Wasn’t really a minus here

Next:

Think about capturing the sea and sky on a more regular basis, ideally a month.
