Reassembled Vase: Unassembled 3 – colors

Experiment:

Experimenting with colors and layered colors using the unassembled vase. Goal is to have a sense of space. This was 2 parts 1- making prints off the glass from the pieces of the vase and then 2 - using these prints for masters of individual colors.

Notes:

For this experiment, I made prints of each stage, and then used those prints to make masters for each color.

Plus:
  • The black background definitely adds drama
  • Mist on top of FLOP and Lime works
  • I tried pre-assembling the pieces - they shifted on way to the Riso. Initially frustrating but it resulted in a fantastic composition, so can't complain. I liked and appreciated that time and movement affected the layout.
  • Making masters for each stage gave me a lot of flexibility in playing with colors, swapping out their order and the individual color
Minus:
  • Making masters for each stage limited by ability to tweak the positions of the shards based on colors
More:
  • My expectations of how this would look interfered with seeing it - needed to give myself some time to process it
  • The drama/extent of the change (the distance between the pieces) impacts the piece and how well the colors work.
  • Cornflower, Lime, Mist, and Sunflower or Fl Pink are interesting, but not sure they're 100% right on Black Paper,
Next:
  • Settle in with colors
  • Explore how the drama of the change (the distance between the pieces) interacts with color.
